Renting in China should not require fluent Chinese

What we actually do

Most rental platforms in Hangzhou are built for Chinese tenants, which means listings written in Chinese, viewings arranged by phone in Chinese, and a lease you are expected to sign in Chinese. That works fine if you read the language. For everyone else it is a series of small risks that add up to a stressful move.

We work the other way around. Our listings are published in English, our agents accompany you to viewings and translate in real time, and we read the lease with you clause by clause before you sign. If a landlord has added something unusual, you will hear about it from us before it costs you.

How we choose what to list

An agent visits every apartment in person before it goes live. We check the water pressure, the heating, the mobile signal, the walk to the nearest metro entrance and whether the building has a working lift. If it does not hold up, we do not list it — which is why our catalogue is smaller than the listing sites and considerably more accurate.

Who we work with

Our clients are typically engineers and product people relocating to Hangzhou's technology companies, teachers and academics arriving at the universities, and families moving with a corporate relocation package. We also help exchange students and remote workers, and we are equally comfortable working in English, Chinese or a mix of both.

Where we operate

Our office is in Xihu District and we cover all eight Hangzhou districts: Xihu, Binjiang, Yuhang, Shangcheng, Gongshu, Xiaoshan, Linping and Qiantang. If you are relocating to another city in the Yangtze Delta, tell us — we can usually refer you to someone we trust.
